The House Oversight Committee is expanding its investigation into alleged cover-ups of President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions. According to Fox News, nine former senior White House officials are set to testify in the coming weeks.
Specifically, Ronald Klain, former White House Chief of Staff under President Biden; Steve Ricchetti, former Counselor to the President; Mike Donilon, former Senior Advisor to the President; Bruce Reed, former Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy; and Anita Dunn, former Senior Advisor to the President on communications, will appear for interviews between July 24 and August 7.
Two other former senior White House officials, Ashley Williams, former Special Assistant to the President, and Annie Tomasini, former Director of Oval Office Operations, former Assistant to the President, and Deputy Chief of Staff, will voluntarily appear for interviews on July 11 and 18.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has issued subpoenas for Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, and Anthony Bernal, former presidential aide and senior advisor to the First Lady, to testify. According to Fox News sources, O’Connor is scheduled to testify on July 9, while Bernal is scheduled for July 16.
Comer has also sent letters to former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, former Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, former Principal Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates, and former Special Assistant to the President Ian Sams, requesting their appearance for interviews. Comer alleges that the four top Biden administration staffers have “direct” information about “who made key decisions and wielded executive authority in the Administration, possibly without President Biden’s approval.”
Fox News added that the investigation focuses on who within Biden’s inner circle made decisions amid concerns about his cognitive decline.
