A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after its left engine caught fire shortly after takeoff on Friday, July 18. The Boeing 767-400 returned to LAX around 2:10 p.m. and landed safely, with no injuries reported, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Video captured by KTLA showed flames erupting from the plane. The flight, en route to Hartsfield/Jackson Atlanta International Airport, had to make the emergency landing with 226 passengers, seven flight attendants, and two pilots on board, Delta Air Lines said. Firefighters inspected the aircraft, and Delta’s maintenance teams will assess the plane. The FAA is investigating the incident, according to KTLA.
